Letter to the Editor: Rotten railroad crossing
(Letter to the Editor - Photo Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)
The Belrock Avenue railroad crossing in Belpre — I know that a lot of people use this railroad crossing every day, including myself. This crossing is in very bad shape and needs repairs. The top of the crossing which, I think, is some kind of rubber material is in good shape. The material that’s under the rubber is shot. If you go over it slowly you will notice how bad it really is.
It’s like a bunch of big potholes. It’s very hard on vehicle front end alignment and shocks.
I have gone to the past mayor, and city council and have contacted the railroad official several times and got no satisfaction. Even the crossing on Route 7 as you cross on to Washington Street in Marietta is in bad shape also.
What does it take to get it repaired? The railroad has money to buy a lot of new tank cars, which are parked on several sidings in Belpre. There must be close to 75 or more. I would not think it would cost that much to repair the crossings.
Help!
