Traditional discipline is best
I see where Biden has commuted the death penalties of a whole lot of people, including some who murdered women and children. Why in the world would he do that?
The death penalty, as some argue, does not stop others from committing murder. It was never intended to be a deterrent. The death penalty is the ultimate punishment for the perpetrator of a murder.
Just as when we read about persons arrested for traffic violations, that does not make me think about not doing those types of crimes; UNLESS I have had a citation for one in the past. I had a citation for speeding more than 40 years ago. I have been very careful since then.
The death penalty may not make you avoid that type of action, but the punishment carried out for murder according to the law will make certain you do not commit any more murders.
We live in a society that believes it is unfair to punish a person for some types of crimes. If you commit a certain crime, then do not expect special treatment in the punishment phase of a trial. You did it, you pay for it. Sometimes, depending on the crime, you are required to pay with your life.
Just read an article by Bill Welker, retired educator. The traditional discipline style is best. The progressive style leads to a disruptive classroom. The teacher should be in charge of the class and it is not a democracy. When I was a student, and later as a teacher and administrator, it was paramount for the teacher to take charge on Day 1. Not Thanksgiving, but Day 1. Explain the classroom rules and consequences. The teacher is boss and if the teacher wants to bargain with the students for good behavior, they will have a long year. In elementary school in the early 60s, we would get paddled for misbehavior and even for not doing all of our homework. Maybe a bit extreme, but we survived and learned to respect authority. I still firmly believe that if the troublemakers in school had their hind ends warmed up, we might not have to warm up the electric chair for them later. Corporal punishment can help prevent capital punishment.
Society needs Jesus. What better time to turn to him than at this time of year?
