Letter to the Editor: Understanding the Harris plan

A previous letter in the Sunday newspaper titled “Biden/Democrats best for the economy” contained some “disinformation.”

Trump did not inherit a vibrant economy from Obama. During Obama’s two terms in office the economy never exceeded a stagnant 2% rate of growth. The economy took off after Trump ended Obama’s war on fossil fuels and began drilling and fracking. Trump will do so again, if re-elected.

It was Biden reinstituting Obama’s war on fossil fuels which has crippled the economy for the past 3-and-a-half years.

There were likely mistakes made in Trump’s handling of COVID, considering it was a “new” virus with many unknowns. One of Trump’s mistakes as we now know was listening to Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was wrong about everything, including mask mandates. Yet incognitive Biden made Fauci his advisor and continued to heed his bad advice.

Also, Biden has never held China accountable for spreading the virus worldwide, which Trump was prepared to do.

Kamala Harris, having learned nothing about economics as Joe Biden’s veep, seeks to continue his war on fossil fuels. Harris doesn’t understand high oil prices mean high gasoline (and diesel) prices, resulting in higher shipping costs of goods from the producer to the retailer, who passes this cost on to consumers.

Energy prices would continue to soar under a Harris administration, further devastating the economy. To control these soaring costs, Harris proposes imposing a communist-style price control.

To make understanding price controls simple, imagine a kid opening a lemonade stand. To produce the lemonade, the kid must purchase lemons, sugar and paper cups. The cost of the items results in a cost of 20 cents per cup of lemonade sold, to break even, so the kid sells their lemonade at 25 cents a cup, making a five-cent profit per cup.

But the Harris administration imposes a price cap of 20 cents on each cup of lemonade sold. Since the kid can’t make a profit, he closes his lemonade stand and goes home.

Under a Harris administration, the same would happen on a grander scale, causing food shortages, gasoline shortages, etc, resulting in starvation and utter chaos as the Venezuelan people can attest.

Harris and Biden have destroyed the economy. (Re)electing Donald Trump is the solution.
