Letter to the Editor: Rebuttal to letters from 8/25 and 8/31

The writer disparaged my “suckers and losers” comment about Trump’s regard for service personnel, which he said came from “fake” news. Let’s cover the two comments separately.
The writer claims without mentioning names that the people close to Trump deny he said that. My reply is you can always find several Trump sycophants that will deny anything harmful to Trump’s message. Their job or their next job depends on it. My support is for the one or two people that out Trump for what he is, a narcissistic moron. Since making my “suckers” comment, I have heard two respected journalists confirm that. The writer will still claim it is all fake news.
Trump visited Arlington at the request of several Gold Star mothers. A picture placing a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns was solemn enough. A second picture of Trump standing with the mothers at their son’s tombstones was another matter. Trump had a smirk on his face and a thumbs up gesture. It is like “I got my photo op to convince voters I care.”
There was a scuffle about taking pictures in this sacred place for political purposes. My father would have given me a swift kick in the pants if I behaved like this. Trump, narcissistic moron, can get away with a lot of things.
Writer feels the only “real” news sources are Fox News and Newsmax and everything else NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and etc. is fake news. Fox News pushed the Dominion Voting Machine conspiracy to explain Trump’s loss in 2020. Dominion sued Fox for $1.6 billion for defamation. There was an out-of-court settlement for $787 million without admission of guilt. That makes Fox guilty in the court of public opinion of spreading fake news. National Public Radio’s web site offers balanced news from credible journalists. On the national news, political section, there is a fact check icon. Trump’s recent speeches show lies and partial truths every two minutes. Scaling that up to the typical Fox News program shows as much as one-third of the program could be filled with lies and misinformation. Why aren’t there more lawsuits? We cannot claim the damage value Dominion did to afford lawyers on contingency. All we can do is write letters to the editor.
L. Dobbs and T. Carlson were dismissed during the Dominion debacle. Why cannot Fox hire journalists like William F. Buckley, a conservative’s conservative? People like that don’t pander to lies and mistruths.
