Just when I think Congressman Alex Mooney can sink no lower, I get his totally sleazy campaign mailer. "China lies, cheats, and steals -- and sent us COVID." Are you serious? And by the way, who paid to send this mailer? Him? His campaign? Nope. You and I.
Lies, cheats, and steals? Sounds like a presidential candidate who he blindly supports. Also sounds like a European dictator who this candidate drools over and who invaded a peaceful neighbor. Mr Putin is also behind massive cyber espionage against the U.S. and the recent death of Russia's most prominent dissident. Where are condemnations from Mooney and Trump?
And the answer to China is more tariffs? You know who pays for tariffs? You and I, through higher prices. So basically he is proposing to tax us to pay for "victims" and "lost loved ones." What a joke. COVID was a terrible disease but to blame "China" is ridiculous. Should we put tariffs on African goods because of Ebola or Mexican because of malaria?
Mooney loves to whine and make outrageous statements to appear as a mini-Trump to win over his supporters since he has nothing else to offer. He screams that something must be done about immigration. When the Senate sends him a bipartisan bill to support Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan that incorporates Republican immigration demands, he opposes it after he sees Trump do it. One complaint is we should spend taxpayer dollars here, not on foreign aid. Do you know where 80% of this foreign aid will be spent? In armament factories in such foreign locations as Texas, Ohio, and North Carolina. Damned foreigners. But the truth doesn't grab the same headlines.
He blames "tax and spend" Democrats for the debt, despite spending having bipartisan support and while offering no concrete ideas on how to really put a dent in the deficit. Complaining is cheap. Our congressman should have serious proposals, not be an embarrassment. How did he get re-elected?
And this political hack dedicated to tearing America apart and with no real policy contributions wants to be a senator? He should focus on something for which he's truly qualified -- a fringe radio talk show host. Make room for a truly dedicated representative of the interests of the people of West Virginia.
