I don't understand some of our West Virginia lawmakers. I would like to lift up two things.
First, one lawmaker, probably more, wants to put the Ten Commandments in public places, like schools. Do they not know that Jesus reduced the ten to two? One of the preachers on Sunday said that we don't need the ten, only two to be placed in public places. Love God and love one another.
Second. Even though West Virginia is losing educators, some of the lawmakers want to incarcerate teachers and librarians who provide students with books that the silly legislators deem obscene. There might be a book in libraries that tell about slave masters raping their 12- and 13-year-old female slaves. Obscene? Absolutely, but it's also historical. Today's 12- and 13-year-olds need to know about this atrocity. The value of history is that we learn from it!
The sad part about it is that the same lawmakers, and many other West Virginians, voted for a man who, out of his own mouth, on tape, laughed about grabbing women in their vaginas.
Would someone with just a little common sense explain this mindset to me?
