What has become of us? If the events of Jan. 6, 2021, didn't make us think twice about supporting Donald Trump, what's it going to take? If there's a silent majority who've reversed course, it's time for them to speak up.
I've never seen such a fanatical allegiance to any political figure in my lifetime. This phenomenon reaches far beyond ordinary politics, and should be concerning to all of us, even those who avoid political topics.
It's not just about one man. It's about a political and cultural movement that has taken hold and turned us against each other.
Trump's strongest empowerment seems to be his appeal to religious groups. Does anyone see the irony of trying to legislate Christianity into public life with a man like Donald Trump in the White House?
People of faith need to examine themselves and stop empowering a man who's proven himself to be the opposite of what they claim to believe, it shows what they really are. It's preposterous to believe they have 'godly wisdom' or 'spiritual guidance.'
If you have faith leaders, either nationally known or local, who are telling you how to vote, or trying to sway you politically because 'God spoke to them' or whatever, stop and think. Use your own mind. They have no spiritual advantage over you.
Donald Trump has no power on his own.
The only power he has is what his servants give him. Idolatry is subtle, then it grows out of control. Once you see hypocrisy, you can't unsee it.
Trump is currently running a shadow government with the help of Republican House members.
It's frustrating that a man who hasn't been in the White House for almost four years is trying to dictate public policy. This needs to stop now.
These letters probably won't change minds that are already made up, but please think. Think for yourself.
