Letter to the Editor: Recharging our batteries
Trending
Just read another column filled with advice from our local climate gurus. While I am not opposed to "protecting" our climate, I still look toward the only one who controls the climate. His name is Jehovah, Almighty God, in other words the creator of the universe,
In the submission last week, the author recommended giving a bag of compost as a Christmas gift. Very thoughtful! Save your garbage and vegetable peelings, put them in a bag and say "Merry Christmas," or worse yet Happy Holidays, a greeting I detest that is designed to ignore Jesus Christ.
But, getting back to the advice of the climate advocates, the writer also recommended buying electric tools as gifts. How does an electric tool work? You have to plug it into the wall receptacle. Where does the electricity come from? From a fossil-fuel fired power plant. Nothing wrong with that. God put those precious natural resources in the Earth; (i.e., coal, oil, natural gas,) before we even knew we would need them.
Perhaps the writer meant to say battery-powered tools. But, still the same argument again. Batteries have to be charged. How does that happen? Oh, yes, plug them into the wall. I have a battery-powered push mower. Performs well, but the batteries need charged.
Also heard a story on TV news that Biden would like to shut down not only all coal-fired power plants, but also natural gas-fired plants. According to the story, that would be 50% of our electric generating capability. How stupid! Once again it would be nice to power everything by windmills and solar panels and pixie dust, but it simply is not feasible. The climate change advocates once again are trying to force the issue, far in advance of those systems being able to work efficiently. Biden is being advised by someone who is doing his thinking for him to take these drastic measures, perhaps to leave a legacy of advancing climate change "solutions." Well, he is leaving a legacy alright, but not the one he wants. He is leaving a legacy of the economy in shambles, people's personal retirement savings going down the drain, and the overall prices at the grocery stores rising, the place where the normal person does business.
Ignore Biden now and turn to Jesus for answers to all of your problems.
