Letter to the Editor: The little old lady
Trending
Well, it's official I'm the little old lady now. A year and a half ago I wrote about how I realized I looked old all of a sudden. I've mostly accepted that fact because to be happy with myself there is nothing I can do about it. I've told you about my love of family and friends, gave you my opinion on Covid, and shared blessings I've received.
The other evening I visited a church I went to for a while. I didn't think the congregation even knew I existed. Those Sunday mornings I sat in service, except for the pastor and his family, the rest of them didn't speak to me that I remember. Wednesday evening there was a supper before an informal Bible study type meeting. I went with my sister and brother-in-law. As I sat there some people waved and smiled from another table. Others came over to speak to us. First one my sister started to introduce me to said, "Your Mother! You look so much a like." My sister quickly corrected her but I heard. I smiled. Afterwards I told my sister, "You should feel good. I'm your Mom again." (One New Years Eve 3 people thought I was her Mom.) In my defense she is 10 years younger than me.
This is the part I wanted to emphasize to you. Two people said they wondered what happened to the "Little Old Lady who Testifies." That is how they remembered me. I told you in the past I wondered how I would be remembered when I'm gone, meaning gone from this earth. So now I have a glimpse of what people remember. I try to live as an example. I love and care about others, especially my family. I'm still far from perfect but I strive to do the best I can. I'm thankful that what people noticed about me is something I'm comfortable with. I have to admit, I still would rather be that young looking woman who testifies. (Just joking.) You're being watched even when you think no one notices who you are and what you are doing. I wasn't alone those mornings I sat in service thinking no one knew I was even there. I was living as an example, doing what I was meant to do.
Remember, love is so very important. Share your love, enjoy life, and be the best example you can be.
