Letter to the Editor: Second amendment would save us
Trending
The current invasion of Israel by Hamas from across the border of the Gaza Strip should give Americans reason to pause and give thanks for our second amendment.
In Israel, Hamas terrorists are savagely murdering Israeli citizens, including the elderly and children and beheading babies. Thus far an estimated 150 plus captives, some Americans, have been taken into Gaza as hostages against the Israeli army counter attacking in Gaza.
The same could happen in America, since Biden has left our southern border wide open to illegal immigrants from 170 countries, including terrorist countries. We hope not, considering Joe Biden's inept response, not only to terroristic acts, but to violent crime in America's streets. Should terrorists ever attack Americans in our own streets, we should remember these terrorists will be radicalized and willing to die for Islam. They will seek to slay as many Americans as possible before they themselves are killed.
We must pray such mass murders do not occur in the U.S. Should it ever occur here, the first responders would be our state and local law enforcement and our armed citizenry. It's likely that armed citizens would be the first ones present if such a scenario occurred, especially in "red" states where citizens can go armed freely. In "red" states, if such slaughters began, a group of armed citizens would begin shooting back and a bunch of terrorists would soon meet their timely demise.
In "blue" states, where citizens are denied their second amendment rights, the American death toll would sky-rocket. Terrorists likely know this and would plan their attacks in "blue" states.
At such a time, only the terrorists would complain about Americans owning AR-15s, AKSS and other misnamed "assault weapons." Such weapons would be great to fight off a terrorist attack.
In "blue" states, police departments are vastly undermanned and police response times to a crisis are dismal, thus a terrorist attack there would mean heavy American casualties, especially in a crowded mall or in sporting events.
Our founding fathers knew what they were doing when they wrote the second amendment into our constitution, which is a safeguard against such invasions. The events in Israel should give even rabid anti-gunners much to think about.
It is only by the grace of God and our second amendment that America has never been invaded.
