Letter to the Editor: Put God back in schools

I read the letter in the Monday, Sept. 25, newspaper titled "avoiding ignorance" in which the author made several excellent points.
Many other "every day" items used to commit murder are baseball bats, hammers, screwdrivers, crowbars, tire irons, canes, icepicks, bricks, bottles, etc. These cannot all be outlawed. When these items are used, it is the fault of the perpetrator. If a gun is used, especially a so-called, misnamed assault weapon, it becomes the fault of the weapon, not the user of the weapon. What nonsense.
We have had guns since before the U.S. was a nation, but we never had school shootings until the early '80s. What changed?
Until sometime in the early '60s teachers began every school day with a reading from the Bible and a recital of the Lord's Prayer. Teachers were allowed to talk about Jesus, God and right and wrong, morals, etc., unlike today.
Grade school kids were allowed to bring toy cap pistols to school to have "shootouts" during their lunch hour and recess. The teachers at the same time taught students that killing was wrong.
Back then, high school students were allowed to bring rifles to school to show their classmates and even their teachers. That generation grew up fine. Today any student in preschool bringing a toy gun to school or even pointing their fingers like they were holding a gun would be evicted from school and considered a problem child.
What changed in the '80s resulting in school shootings? We were just beginning to reap what we had sown since the '60s when we attempted to remove even the mention of God from our schools. We opened the door for the devil. This is why we are experiencing so many murders and violent crime in our streets.
The author of the aforementioned letter is correct. We need to turn to Jesus. We need to educate our youth from preschool on about Jesus and having morals. We must elect Godly leaders to positions of power, including district attorneys, who will prosecute criminals instead of leaving them running wild on the streets. We need to reject wokeism and the phoney climate change religion. Not easy in today's America, but if we turn to Jesus, he won't fail us.
