Letter to the Editor: Time to move on from Trump

I've been watching and reading the testimony brought forward by the Jan. 6 hearings. This morning I listened to the entire testimony of then Secretary of State of Arizona, Russell Bowers.
As a Christian and, I'd like to think, a patriotic American, it reaffirmed my belief that there are still some elected public officials who perform their job out of a sense of duty and allegiance to the constitution of the United States and the state in which they are elected. I urge everyone regardless of political affiliation to read or listen to his account of what went on in his state after the 2020 election.
There is no opinion or supposition expressed in his recounting of those troubling days. Bowers is a life-long Republican, and a staunch Reaganite. His faith in God and the foundations of this great Union of States is on display as he sadly tells a story of what he and his staff endured. I started my own adult life as a registered Republican, and hope to return some day to the party that brought hope to me in my young life.
We are running the good ones off, folks.
Mr. Bowers was one of them. We are replacing them with the likes of Jim Jordan, who [has been accused of] knowingly allowing his own young relatives to be sexually assaulted by the Ohio State team doctor as well as others on the team, without reporting it, just to keep from looking bad.
Is integrity no longer a quality Republicans value? I believe in the conservative values, which include honesty and integrity. Take a moment, to reflect by yourself, without the constant input of social media or cable news. Trump does not reflect those values. He is not the common man. He doesn't hunt and ride side-by-sides. He's not a redneck, or a farmer, or a construction worker. He's the guy in the red coat and top hat at the start of a circus, who promises to make all your dreams come true. Move on. You don't have to say you were wrong, which is what stops most of you.
