Letter to the Editor: Don’t sell Public Service Districts
(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)
I expect most of you have heard by now that our Wood County Commission has under consideration the sale of the County’s Public Service Districts. This is something that in my opinion should never happen, and that seems to be the opinion of so many others that I have spoken with.
Our government was created in part to help citizens with basic services, such as water, sewer, police and fire protection, streets and highways. For a government entity to sell a utility … a basic daily need, such as our very well run water systems, is nothing short of irresponsible. Selling the proposed system to a ” for profit company” will absolutely cost our citizens more money.
It seems to me as nothing more than a scheme to get windfall money to spend, and the end result will be that of WE THE PEOPLE paying double or triple on our water bills. I would submit to you that losing local control of the Public Service Districts is a BAD IDEA. Join me in telling our County Commissioners NO we do not want this.
