Letter to the Editor: Take a look at the other side
(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)
This letter is an answer to the letter in the Feb. 26 newspaper titled “Republicans are on the wrong side,” a letter full of misinformation.
First, the U.S. is not the only country in the world plagued by mass shootings. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, European countries, Mexico, etc., have experienced mass shootings. Norway experienced the deadliest mass shooting in history, at which 79 people were killed. Most mass shootings occur in countries with strict gun control. These facts are not reported by the fake news media because it doesn’t fit their anti-gun narrative.
Second, Republicans should support strengthening the EPA? It was Biden’s inept EPA which decided to burn the toxic chemicals spilled in the Ohio rail disaster, polluting our atmosphere. No, Biden wasn’t to blame for the Ohio rail disaster, nor was Trump as the Democrats have opined. However, Biden is responsible for his administration’s poor response.
Third, Senate Republicans did not pack the Supreme Court, they filled vacancies with constitutional judges, replacing activist judges. Americans are about evenly divided concerning abortion, not overwhelming in favor of unfettered abortion.
Neither is abortion a constitutional right or settled law. Abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution. It is the duty of Congress to enact laws by judicial decree. Thus, the 1973 decision on Roe was an overreach of the court’s authority.
Fourth, what is wrong with taxing corporations 15%? Corporations will pass the tax down to consumers –everyday Americans. Corporations don’t pay taxes — people do.
Fifth, Republicans are not dictating what we can or can’t read. Republicans oppose forcing children in grade school to read sexually explicit material. Anyone 18 years or older can read anything they wish. The Democrats are seeking censoring classic books like “Tom Sawyer” until they are re-written to make them “woke.”
Nor are Republicans pushing a religious and racist agenda. This is fake news lies. Teachers who are incapable of teaching kids without pushing wokeism should leave their profession. We don’t need them.
I would challenge the author and our Democratic friends to turn off the mainstream (fake) news media and watch Fox News and NewsMax to broaden their knowledge with the straight facts. They might just see the “other side” in a new light.
