Letter to the Editor: Republicans must keep promises

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

When Republicans assumed control of Congress on Jan. 3, 2023, they had pledged to begin the following investigations.

* The Hunter Biden laptop allegedly containing evidence of influence peddling by Hunter, James and Joe Biden, dating back to Joe’s days in Congress to the present, and whether Joe indirectly received bribe money from China, Russia, the Ukraine, etc., and whether Biden is currently compromised by these bad actors.

* The disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal and why no one was held accountable.

* What actually happened on Jan. 6? Why House Speaker Pelosi refused then-president Trump’s offer of 5,000 National Guardsmen to quell potential riots, the shooting of unarmed Ashli Babbitt by a Capitol Police officer and why he wasn’t charged.

* Why Capitol Police removed “no trespassing” signs from the Capitol building, waving protesters into the building before arresting them. Also, if the FBI had undercover agents among the protesters, egging them to riot (entrapment).

* Biden’s weaponizing of the DOJ-FBI and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s role in the raids on Mar-a-Lago and the homes of Peter Navarro, Roger Stone and other Trump supporters.

* The DOJ-FBI designating parents opposed to the teaching of critical race theory and the “grooming” of their children in schools as “domestic terrorists.”

* Election fraud in the 2020 election, in the six swing states. Mark Zuckerberg and the FBI’s role in swaying the election in Biden’s favor.

* Big Tech shadow banning of conservatives on their media platforms under pressure from the DOJ-FBI.

* The crisis on our southern border and the Biden administration’s inaction.

* The truth behind the origin of COVID-19.

* The summer of 2020 riots and the lack of prosecutions.

* Hillary Clinton’s role in the Trump-Russian collusion.

* The reasons for Biden’s attacks on our energy industry.

House Republicans should also investigate Tail-Gunner Joe’s delay in shooting down the Chinese spy balloon and the ensuing fiasco.

Finally, the House should investigate the Biden administration’s poor response to the East Palestine, Ohio, disastrous train derailment and toxic chemical spill.

If the House Republicans have the resolve (and backbone), they can block Biden’s out-of-control spending. The Republicans made bold promises for when they retook the House and must deliver on at least some of their promises before the 2024 election or be held accountable.

P.S. My letter in the Sunday, March 12 newspaper should have stated “It is the duty of Congress to enact laws, not the duty of the Supreme Court to enact laws by judicial decrees.”
