Letter to the Editor: Oh, the irony

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

Ha! OK, I now must comment on perhaps the most ironic letter to the editor in all of News and Sentinel history. It was last week’s “Take a look at the other side” by a near weekly scribe.

In that missive, the writer implores his readers: “I would challenge the author and our Democratic friends to turn off the mainstream (fake) news media and watch Fox News and NewsMax to broaden their knowledge with the straight facts.” I must admit that line — its incredible absurdity — nearly knocked me off my chair.

I cannot imagine any reasonable person, not living in a cave of misinformation, making that statement with any seriousness just as factual, corroborated evidence is revealed — in a court of law, no less — that Fox News knowingly perpetuated falsehoods about the 2020 elections simply to avoid angering its viewers. There is sworn testimony from Rupert Murdoch himself that Fox’s on-air personalities knowingly lied to viewers. The only folks that don’t know that are the viewers of Fox News exclusively as Fox is not airing coverage of, nor reporting completely on, the trial for Dominion Voting Systems v. Fox News. Perhaps the author of that letter should broaden his sources of information and begin to discriminate between actual facts and Fox fiction.

Hmm … I’ve always thought that writer lived in a reality different from my own — it is now confirmed.
