Letter to the Editor: Forgetting about free will
(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)
I find interesting recent letters where readers claim we need not worry about climate change because God will take care of it.
With that logic, we don’t need police because God will protect us. Same for child protective services because surely God will protect innocent children.
What about disease research? Food safety inspections? The military? Saving for retirement? Education? Unnecessary.
In most religions, their god presents Man with some form of free will. That means to a great degree, it is up to people to make choices and deal with consequences. To apply that to some aspects of human behavior and not to others is inconsistent and illogical.
If the last few years of intense weather changes (and the trillions being spent to deal with them that could be put to better use) don’t convince people that climate change is real, God(s) help our kids find maple syrup.
