Letter to the Editor: McConnell should be removed from power

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

In a previous letter, I opined that were there a single major reason why the Republicans failed to retake the Senate, in the 2022 midterms it would be because of Mitch McConnell’s poor leadership.

First, Mitch McConnell refused to fund Gen. Don Bolduc in New Hampshire, Blake Masters in Arizona and Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, all candidates for the U.S. Senate, and all Trump had endorsed.

McConnell supported Adam Laxalt, the U.S. Senate candidate in Nevada, early on, but pulled his funding three weeks before the election, which cost Laxalt the victory due to the lack of last-minute funding.

Second, McConnell funded RINO Republican Lisa Murkowski in Alaska, in her bid for re-election over her true conservative opponent, Kelly Tshibaka. Murkowski votes with the Democrats over 90% of the time. McConnell also funded RINO Republican Congresswomen Liz Cheney in her bid for re-election in Wyoming. She lost by a record margin.

The funds McConnell misused were donations from Republican voters to elect conservative Republicans into office, not to support McConnell’s personal agenda. McConnell apparently wants to remain the Republican leader in the Senate, even if the Republicans are the minority party.

Third, McConnell publicly ran down the Republican candidates before the election, instead of supporting them. Though not perfect, these candidates were much better than their Democrat opponents.

Mitch McConnell is married to Elaine Chao, the daughter of a wealthy Chinese shipping tycoon (not a shipbuilding tycoon as previously stated, I stand corrected). McConnell should be of interest.

McConnell should be promptly removed from his leadership position in the Republican Senate, lest he sabotages Republicans again in the 2024 election, until the good people of Kentucky send him off like Liz Cheney.
