Letter to the Editor: Saving more than children

In an op-ed in the Sunday, Nov. 20 newspaper, the author wrote children should be taught in their schools, women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, presumably even if their parents disagree. False!
Grade school children should not be taught abortion is OK when half of Americans disagree. Abortion is an issue parents, not teachers, should discuss with young children.
Schools should concentrate on teaching the three Rs (reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic), not indoctrinating, brainwashing and teaching children their teachers’ own liberal personal views. Teachers found teaching critical race theory, sexual orientation, “grooming,” and other “wokeism” trash should never be allowed to teach again, no matter what teachers’ unions and the National Education Association say.
The NEA supported keeping children in lockdown, making them learn from home, which has proven detrimental to children’s mental health. Teachers too lazy to attend in-school classes should be fired and replaced with good teachers. Yes, good teachers deserve better pay.
Donald Trump, in declaring his candidacy for president in 2024, stated teaching CRT and other wokeism trash in our public schools would be outlawed and parents opposed to teaching this trash in our schools would no longer be labeled as “domestic terrorists” and harassed by a corrupt FBI. On this issue, Trump is correct.
The op-ed author mentions the Declaration of Independence. Perhaps she should read it herself, mainly the part concerning life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A child aborted before birth is denied not only life but liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Thus, abortion is unconstitutional. Why don’t they teach that in schools?
The author states “maybe it is time to do something about Amendment 2, to save our children.” The ones we don’t abort. It sounds like she is for outlawing guns. If serious, all she need do is convince 2/3 of the states, 2/3 of the Senate, 2/3 of the House and the president to ratify a new constitutional amendment to repeal Amendment 2.
In the meantime the rest of us can focus on outlawing criminals. We should incarcerate criminals instead of continually releasing them back on the streets to commit further crimes. This will save us all, not just our children.
