Letter to the Editor: No, Joe, we are not a democracy

Wednesday evening, we heard President Joe Biden claim several times that, “They (Republicans) are trying to destroy our Democracy.”
He is right, in a way. The Democrats’ idea of a democracy is a perfect democracy where the majority rules. He wants a single party rule where the majority party has absolute control and the minority party has no say in anything whatsoever. He would do away with the Electoral College and go entirely by whoever gets the most votes, by any means. He would do away with our Constitution, which he does not respect anyway. That way, middle America would have no influence on an election but, a handful of states with dense populations would control all elections. They would stack the Supreme Court so that it is comprised, mostly of members of the majority party. Our Bill of Rights would continue to be ignored. By ignoring the Constitution, the President feels that he does not need the consent of Congress to give away vast sums of money from the National Treasury.
Unfortunately, historically, such “pure” democracies usually end up becoming totalitarian dictatorships.
Is that his intention?
What we have here, in the United States of America, is not a real democracy but it is a Constitutional Republic and we Republicans intend to keep it that way. We want separation of power between the Congress, the President, and the Judicial branches. Our Constitution states very clearly that no money is to be taken from our Treasury except as required by law.
‘Nuff said.
