Letter to the Editor: Make Parkersburg stand out
(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)
Parkersburg is so fortunate to have beautiful topography, a growing arts scene, talent and the ever-improving riverfront. Let’s continue to move forward bringing pride to our community along with tourist dollars by making the Welcome Center, Point Park and the flood wall an iconic destination for all in the MOV. This can be done if civic leaders can engage area assets.
Why not ask the Army Corps of Engineers to help build an observation platform plus aerial tramway ride to Fort Boreman Park from atop the flood wall? Would not a level zip-line, connecting the wall to Kokomos be a popular attraction? (Especially with a man-powered shuttle car).
WVUP education and West Virginia technologies could sparkle by designing an elegant solar powered and automated tramway!
After all, the Corps’ job is engineering to help the economy and they have a huge presence in the Ohio Valley.
We may not have an Eiffel Tower or Brooklyn Bridge. Indeed there is no reason Parkersburg cannot offer something attractive, safe and unique for all citizens.
