Letter to the Editor: Morris poor political inspiration

The News and Sentinel printed a letter to the editor on Oct. 17 titled, "Crooked Hillary Clinton is at it again." That ridiculous letter was the most disconnected, poorly written, confusing piece of editorial trash I've seen in a long time.

I carefully study that letter writer's rambling silliness at every opportunity, not because it's informative or original or interesting, but because I can never stop wondering how anyone in our society can develop political opinions so twisted and absurd as his.

But he made a mistake on Oct. 17. For the first time, that writer revealed his inspirational source of twisted information. He mentioned the name "Dick Morris." I had to do some research to uncover Dick Morris. If you Google, "Dick Morris," the first thing to pop up on your screen is four videos filled to overflow with far-right political lies and mindless stupidity.

Morris was a Democrat 20 years ago but turned sharply right and became a Trump Republican in 2016 and he's been spouting and spreading his political hate and lies ever since.

Watching those Morris videos and reading some of his political idiocy prompted me to reread a couple of previous letters to the Parkersburg editor written by the same guy who triggered this whole editorial exercise. Turns out the guy who's been writing letters to the local editor has been borrowing his every political opinion from Dick Morris. Essentially, that letter writer has been doing nothing more creative than repeating Dick Morris/NewsMax garbage.

A local letter to the editor (obviously prompted by Dick Morris) told us the Trump/Russia story was a hoax. If that's true, explain the 35 indictments resulting from the Mueller Investigation?

And hiring 87,000 new IRS agents is not to audit lower and middle-class citizens. It's to replace 57,000 IRS retirees and add 30,000 new service reps and IT specialists to the Treasury Dept.

Morris is notorious about making inaccurate predictions. He predicted Mitt Romney would win in a landslide in 2012 and Trump would win big in 2020. There's an annual award named after Morris. It's given for, "Stunningly Wrong Political, Social and Cultural Predictions."

A week ago, Morris predicted Hillary Clinton would run for election again in 2024. That prediction was repeated in a letter to the local editor. Nobody, including Hillary Clinton, has endorsed that prediction.
