Letter to the Editor: Eliminate personal property tax

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

I’m writing in regard to the personal property tax we pay every year for our houses, cars, ATVs, campers, etc. We pay taxes on these things when we purchase them and then the State of West Virginia wants us to pay taxes on them every year.

Where is all the money going that they bring in with the West Virginia Lottery?

They say the money from the lottery helps the schools and the senior citizens. I don’t believe that one bit.

They’re closing schools down and cramming kids into different schools, but then want money to build new schools.

Wake up, West Virginia, and quit filling your pockets, Gov. Jim Justice.

There is no need for us to be paying personal property taxes each year on everything we own.

Look at the state of Ohio. They don’t pay personal property taxes, and they still fund their schools.

Another thing is the West Virginia inspection sticker. Why should we have to keep our vehicles up to date and the state can’t even keep the roads decent for us to drive on?

There is another pocket-filler for Jim Justice to get from the West Virginia citizens.

So let’s get this on the ballot for the November election and do away with personal property taxes and the West Virginia state inspection.

Stop filling Gov. Jim Justice’s pockets and do away with nonsense.
