Letter to the Editor: Clean House (and Senate)

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

I was wondering how many people benefited from the American Rescue Act, which was signed into law on March 11, 2021. This package included the Child Tax Credit, emergency SNAP benefits, rental assistance and paycheck protection. The sad thing is that all three of the representatives from West Virginia voted against it.

It is also interesting to note that they did not vote to protect our elections and our right to vote.

When I vote for someone to represent me, I want them to think about issues that affect me, my family and my neighbors. I do not need someone who follows a given book of legislative issues like ALEC gives to the Republican members of state and federal legislators.

The new District 2 has the least amount of land, but about the same number of people. The district has the poorest county and the wealthiest county.

We need to send Barry Wendell to Washington, D.C.

Need I say how upset I am about the special session in Charleston. What a waste of tax dollars. So we have a surplus. I can think of many ways to spend that money other than taking away women’s rights and helping the wealthy residents of our state.

So we need to clean the house and senate in Charleston and send Red Greer (District 13) J. Morgan Leach (District 10), Harry Deitzler (District 11), Jim Marion (District 12), to the House. It would be very helpful to send Jody Murphy to the senate.

Locally, we need Simon Hargus as a Wood County Commissioner, J.R. Carpenter as our County Clerk, and James Chris Alfred as our Circuit Clerk.
