Letter to the Editor: What’s the difference?

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

There are two articles of interest in today’s (July 22) paper. One is on the “Right to Contraception Act” and the other is about a driver who hit a vehicle with a pregnant mother inside, causing the death of the fetus but not the mother. They are on pages 3A and 4A.

The right to contraception act is tied to the “right” to have an abortion. As I understand it, it is illegal to kill anybody in all 50 states and most countries of the world. Now, this driver is charged with “DUI causing death.”

In 2020, the latest year for such data, over 920,000 abortions were performed in this country. CDC data has only 2019 data with five states unaccounted for.

Can somebody explain the difference between an abortion killing a fetus and a driver of a car killing a fetus?
