In the Feb. 27 newspaper, the letter titled "A history lesson" contained several erroneous "facts." It was the weakness Biden showed during his botched Afghanistan withdrawal, which prompted Putin to invade Ukraine at this time. Should China now invade Taiwan, it will be because Chinese President XI has seen Biden's weak response to Putin's Ukrainian invasion.
Not to blame Biden for the above history is absolute idiocy. We can't blame Trump. Sadly, he is no longer in office.
The Iranians were violating the Iran nuclear deal by "illegally" enriching uranium from day one. Obama refused to call them on the violations because he wanted Americans to believe he had made a good deal. He didn't. The U.S. made all the concessions and got nothing in return. U.S. allies opposed the deal, which the senate refused to ratify. Trump was right to cancel it.
Jimmy Carter himself was responsible for the double-digit inflation of the late 1970s due to his inept foreign policy. Carter helped the Iranians overthrow the shah, a dictator who was friendly to the U.S., resulting in Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini, another dictator, but one who hated the U.S., assuming power. Carter brought the shah to the U.S., angering the Iranians, triggering the Iranian hostage crisis and the OPEC oil embargo, crippling the U.S. economy.
I lived through the 70s, but not from under a rock.
Reagan did, indeed, fix the economy "overnight," or more accurately, in the first year of his presidency. Reagan was re-elected due to his handling of the economy.
Trump had everything to do with our energy independence. Trump ended Obama's war on coal and oil and eliminated Obama's needless environmental regulations, which smothered the economy, allowing the economy to grow.
No, the U.S. is not still energy independent, because Biden ended drilling and fracking on government lands, sending energy prices to record highs. Biden is continuing Obama's war on fossil fuels, which is not great surprise, considering many of Biden's cabinet previously worked for the Obama administration.
Biden and his democrats have ignored the lessons of history and are dooming America to repeat them. Lithium is used in many electronic devices, including solar panels and batteries.
The letter titled "A history lesson" is a lesson in liberal revisionist fake news history instead of (f)actual history.
