Give Local: Local organizations need your support

Mid-Ohio Valley residents take care of one another. It is important to most of us to do what we can to help our neighbors. When we are able to give of our time and resources, we often try to do it in a way we can see will do the most good, closest to home.
Today is an incredible opportunity to explore lots of ways to help, through some of the nearly 70 local organizations that can be accessed at givelocalmov.org. It is an A to ... well, Y list of groups working to feed, educate, support, protect, inspire and improve -- from animals to the arts, health to history, if it is important to you, you'll find a way to support it on Give Local day.
To encourage giving, there are prizes throughout the day for organizations that raise the most money between 6-8 a.m. (Morning Drive Prize), or between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Lunch Break Prize), just to name a couple.
Matching funds are provided with the help of Superior Toyota in Parkersburg.
It is an exciting day for nonprofits, and should be for Mid-Ohio Valley residents looking to join in. The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation does an incredible job organizing and administering the event each year. Gathering so many who are busy fulfilling their individual missions to participate in this one-day event is no small task, but well worth it.
"We are always finding there are problems solved and solutions found when our nonprofits work together," said Julie Posey, senior development and stewardship officer with the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation & Regional Affiliates.
