Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

UP: To the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley once again exceeding its fundraising campaign goals. In its 2020-21 campaign, the organization raised $1,150,000. That is stunning given the pandemic atmosphere during which the money was raised. “This was the year that we had to do more,” said campaign chair Robin Ollis Stemple. Indeed, they did; and their success is incredible. Well done, folks!

UP: To local organizations who must be exhausted from having to adapt continuously for more than a year, including the Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley, and its Inclusive Summer Day Program. This year, the program will be in a virtual format, but continue to provide social and recreational activities for youth and teens who are part of the special education system during the regular school year. Thank you for your continued efforts to do good work.

UP: To local residents and organizations who over the past several days have participated in clean-up events and other activities for both Earth Day and Arbor Day. The work you do makes a difference. It would be nice to believe it would inspire others to make such efforts less necessary. But until then, thank you for keeping our valley clean.
