John Robert Jacobsen, 75, of Parkersburg, passed away October 31, 2026, at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1951, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, a son of the late Howard Russell Jacobsen and Shirley Mable (King) Jacobsen.
John worked for Eramet Metals for over 30 years. He was a member of the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge, and was a very active member of the Parkersburg Moose Lodge. John was the type of person that may have seemed shy at first when you met him, but once you got to know him, it was like you had known him your whole life. He was a very kind and generous man, sometimes even to a fault. John loved his Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions, and was a big NASCAR fan, going to many races with friends and family. During his free time, John was an excellent bowler. Even after an accident that left his right hand injured, he bowled left handed better than most people could with their right hand.
He is survived by his ex-wife Lois Jacobsen, his two sons Jason Jacobsen (Angela) and John Jacobsen Jr. (Jamie), his grandchildren Miranda Barton, Steven Barton, Paisley Jacobsen, Kacie Satow, Jasiah Jacobsen, Shianne Posey, and Sashlynn Posey, his twin sister Joan Jacobsen, brother Howard Jacobsen (Doris), brother Michael Gill-Jacobson, sister Denise Taylor (Michael), brother David Jacobsen, sister-in-laws Rosewitha Jacobsen and Carolyn Jacobson, several nieces and nephews, and his two beloved dogs Miley and Jase.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Shirleyan Jacobsen, brother Chris Jacobsen, sister Patricia Jacobson, brother Terry Jacobson, and sister-in-law Roseanne Gill-Jacobson.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 6, 3:00 P.M. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg.
