It is with sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Nina Jean Allman, of Mineral Wells, on September 4, 2026, at the age of 88. Following a year of battling illnesses.
Born June 8, 1938, Nina grew up on a farm in Rockport. On May 19, 1956, at age 18, she married the love of her life, Norman Roosevelt Allman. Within their marriage, they nourished an unwavering bond built upon their shared values as followers of faith and for building a community of both blood and found family. Her relationship with God grew strong through her relationship with Norman, and faith remained the bedrock of her life in which she became a dedicated member of several churches over the years, including the 14th Ave. Gospel Mission. Nina and Norman's faith-led journey began together through a move to Bayonne, NJ in support of Norman's Navy enlistment. They returned to WV where they began growing their family. In 1963, they moved to their home in Mineral Wells where she lived for the rest of her life. Their adoring marriage lasted 65 years.
She will be forever cherished as a heartbeat of the Meadow Drive community that flourished at her home. Her proudest contribution was building and nourishing this home that no one ever fully left. Choosing homemaking, she unfailingly fed her village with delicious homemade meals, including her delicious lasagna, German chocolate cake and noodles. She also spent her days tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, later gifting the canned goods she prepared.
Nina will be eternally remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to everyone she loved. She shared so much joy within her countless family and friendships whilst growing up, being a snowbird at Regency Cove in Tampa, FL, and other places too numerous to name. Everywhere she landed, she invited those already in her life to visit her with open arms.
Very special in her heart was her lifelong friendship with Janet Bierer, her chosen sister. Nina also built long-lasting loving relationships with Janice Thompson and her faithful neighbors, including a special friend Betty Jo, and numerous others including Mary Lou Cox and Helen Wright who predeceased her.
Nina was the proud mother of Debbie Sue Jackson, Tammie Leah Goff, Lisa Dawn Small, and Eric Scott Allman. She was known as Grammy to her nine grandchildren; Matthew (Donna), Andrew (Rachel), Crystal (Jason), Aimee, Ryan (Mackenzie), Lacey (Austin), Alex, Jordon (Noah) and Amanda (James). Grammy was also cherished by her great-grandchildren; David, Bryant, Madelynn, Lana, Brantley, Lennie, Hunter, Lilah, Kaden, River, Emmy Lou, Willow, and Jasper due to be born.
Her family are heartened to know that she has joined her husband and her precious daughter Tammie in her heavenly home. She is also with her beloved sister Ireta McCoy, her nephew Clair Thompson (who was like a brother), sister-in-law Mary Seaman, and many others. Additionally, she is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Minnie Dorst Smith, and siblings Lena Thompson (Carol), Everett Smith, Betty Skinner (Clair), Opal Gates (Everett), Ireta McCoy (Clair), and Vernon Smith (Grace). Much loved sister-in-law, Everett's wife, Betty Smith, is the only survivor of that generation.
Family will accept visitors on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 5-8pm at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13th at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens followed by a dinner at the home she nourished for many years located at 153 S. Meadow Drive, Mineral Wells. Family asks all that join to bring a side dish or dessert.
