With deep love, we announce the passing of Michael Kevin Boston, on September 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Lloyd and Ava Boston. Mike grew up in a loving home filled with laughter and care. Those early memories helped shape his generosity, humor, and steadiness he carried throughout his life.
His love for his country showed through his enlistment in the United States Army. He served in the 1st U.S Army Company A, 7th Battalion for 3 years and what an adventure they had. It was a true commitment.
Mike was an unwavering spirit to his community. He dedicated 40 years to the Wood County Rec Center. Mike never met a sport he didn’t like. He coached many athletes in Wood County from basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling, and football. If he wasn’t coaching he was the loud voice you heard calling, “Strike, Ball, or you’re out” on the field as an umpire.
Mike worked at Dupont for 23 years and then decided to open up, Video Dine, which was known for the best calzones in town. In his spare time he loved to fish and hunt. His best memories were created when he would vacation in Canada for those long fishing trips. Mike also loved the river where he would spend hours boating and water skiing.
He was an outstanding husband, father, and grandfather. His most precious memories were those created with his family. He coached them, he attended games, he cheered for them but most importantly he loved them. Mike left a legacy of memories behind to be shared for generations. He will be greatly missed by all who know and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Janet Boston; daughter, Stacy Boston; son, Brian (Suzi) Boston; mother-in-law, Mary Haney; grandchildren, Bradley (Bethany) Wilson, Ashley (Joel) Davis, Jared (Erica) Wilson, Jacob Boston, Kaitlyn Boston; great-grandchildren, Emilia Davis, Braxton Wilson, Olivia Wilson, and Violet Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Boston, J. Keith Boston; sister, J. Karen Boston, and his father-in-law, Charles Haney.
