Gerald Shannon Hall

Gerald Shannon Hall, 94, of Pennsboro, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Marietta, Ohio.

He was born May 4, 1932, in Weirton, West Virginia, the son of the late Arthur Hall and Gladys (Arlene) Hall. He was a graduate of Pennsboro High School class of 1952. That is where he met his future wife, Sharon Poole. Gerald was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany. Following his military service, he returned to Sharon where they became married for 71 years. Gerald was a member of the Pennsboro Church of Christ where he attended services with his wife, family, and friends.

Gerald was employed by Hope Gas for more than 30 years. A lifelong farmer, he operated his farm on River Road raising cattle and cutting hay. Gerald also became a pilot and flew from an airstrip on his farm. He was known throughout the community for his willingness to assist others with his knowledge and equipment. He enjoyed auctions, visits to Amish Country, operating heavy equipment, and supporting his sons in their businesses. He spoke daily with fellow farmers and took great pride in his family, speaking with his sons each day about their work and lives. He also cared deeply for the animals on his farm, including his dogs, cattle, horses, chickens, and guineas. He greatly enjoyed catching up with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren and what was going on in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Denver Hall, Harland "Sonny" Hall, and Kenny Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Elaine Hall; his brother Dale Hall; and his sons Gerald Hall, Terry Hall, Michael Hall, and Mark Hall.

A graveside service was held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Gnats Run Cemetery, where Mr. Hall was laid to rest.
