Ernest "Ernie" R. Doll, age 89, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He was born June 13, 1937, in Pennsboro, WV, the son of the late Archie M. and Edra Erma Calhoun Doll.
Ernie was a 1955 graduate of the former Pennsboro High School and proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran. He was also a faithful member of the Pennsboro Church of Christ for 60 years, where his faith was an important and enduring part of his life.
Ernie devoted 47 years of his life to Mid Atlantic Glass Company, where he built a distinguished career and ultimately served as President until the company's closure. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to the company and its people were an important part of his life and legacy.
Outside of his professional life, Ernie was an active member of the River City Runners and Walking Club in Parkersburg, WV. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, exercising, and staying active. Above all, Ernie treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.
Ernie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to those around him, steadfast faith, and the love, laughter, and joy he brought to his family and friends. He touched the lives of many throughout his 89 years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Tackett Doll; daughters, Donita Anderson (Bob) of Radford, VA, and Patricia Sheffield (Scott) of Canfield, OH; grandchildren, Chase Robison (Lindsey) of Harrisville, WV, Emily Anderson (Brandon) of Palmyra, VA, and Evan Anderson (Makayla) of Pearisburg, VA; great-grandchildren, Halle Jo Robison and River Sage Robison; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Doll of Parkersburg, WV, and Sara Doll of Pennsboro, WV; and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brothers, Archie Jr., John, and George Doll; and sisters, Jean Summers and Peggy Flanagan.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, with Evangelist Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pike Church of Christ Cemetery in Ellenboro, WV.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
