Carl Myron Dunlap of the Dallison area passed away on August 11, 2026, following a brief illness. He was 90 years old.
He was born on July 21, 1936, at the family farm in the Pleasant Valley / Dallison area to the late Lester and Mary Reece Dunlap. After graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1955, he worked for a few years with the Pennzoil Company and then moved on to the O Ames Company where he worked as a Millwright / Welder until he retired in 2000.
In 1959, he married Leta Talbott Dunlap, his wife of 67 years, living on the family farm in the Dallison area. They were active with the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Carl Myron was one of the original founding members of the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an active volunteer fire fighter for nearly 35 years and continued to support the department.
He is survived by his wife Leta and his brother-in-law Vernon Talbott, his daughter Dena Cunningham and her husband Jim of Phoenix AZ and by his son Dennis Dunlap and his wife Alison of The Woodlands TX. He is also survived by grandchildren Marissa Cunningham of Petersburg AK, Jared Cunningham of Portland OR, Alex Dunlap of Dallas TX (wife Meg and daughters Winslow and Margot) and Jillian Martin of Atlanta GA (husband Jack).
Visitation will be on Friday, August 14 from 5-7 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg.
A short graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 15 at 1:00 pm at the Evergreen North Cemetery.
