Rexie O. Quick, 85, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from complications resulting from injuries sustained in a farm accident.
Born on August 17, 1940, to Kenneth and Cora Powell Quick, Rexie lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 39 years of dedicated employment. Although he enjoyed a long and successful career, his greatest passion was farming. Whether working the fields, caring for his livestock, or lending a helping hand to a neighbor, Rexie was happiest on the farm. Farming wasn't simply what he did, it was who he was.
Rexie was a devoted member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee. His commitment to serving others extended throughout the community through his service on the Wirt County Board of Education and his involvement with Wirt Lodge No. 82 A.F. & A.M., where he served as Past Master; Wirt Chapter No. 113, Order of the Eastern Star; Vienna Chapter No. 151, Order of the Eastern Star; and Ben Bey Grotto.
More than anything, Rexie treasured his family. He was a loving husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, and adoring great-grandfather. He never met a stranger and was always ready to strike up a conversation, whether at church, the feed store, a community event, or simply while standing in line. His warm smile, quick wit, and genuine kindness put people at ease, and he formed countless lasting friendships. To know Rexie was to know a man of integrity, generosity, unwavering faith, and quiet strength.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia Quick; his daughters, Penny Kirk (David), Jennifer Spencer, and Carol Frame (Steve); his son-in-law, Terry Davis; his grandchildren, Jessy Clark (Eli), Amber Spencer (Jacob), Camron Poling (Barry), Brandy Peters (Shane), Kenneth Davis (Tabby), Kayla Davis, Joseph Frame (Kaitlyn), and Sarah Bell (Josh); and 17 cherished great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Quick and Cora Powell Quick; his brothers, Tom Quick and Charles Quick; his daughter, Cheryl Davis; and his precious great-granddaughter, Emma Davis.
Rexie's life was a testament to hard work, humility, faith, and love. The seeds he planted--in his fields, in his family, and in the lives of everyone he met--will continue to bear fruit for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Those who knew him find comfort in the promise that he has now heard the words every faithful servant longs to hear:
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! ... Come and share your master's happiness!'" -- Matthew 25:23
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rexie's memory to Elizabeth Baptist Church and/or the Morristown Community Association
Services will be 11:00am, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home with the Rev Leary Vanhorn officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 30, 2026,from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00PM and Friday July 31, 2026, from 9:00am until time of service. Eastern Star service will be Thursday at 7:00PM. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth with Masonic Rites.
