Francis Angelos, 87, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Born on September 30, 1938, Francis was the son of the late George Angelos and Sophia Angelos Haralabakos (Theofani Kokotas), originally of Anogia, Greece.
Francis shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Kiki Angelos. He was a devoted father to George (Neysa) Angelos, Niki (Eddie) Staats, and Sophia (Brian) Colombo.
Nothing brought Francis greater joy than his eight beloved grandchildren, whom he loved beyond measure and was endlessly proud of: Franklin Angelos, Eleni Angelos, Nadia Colombo, Angeliki (Kiki) Staats, Athena Staats, Calliope (Calli) Angelos, Zoe Staats, and Ahna Colombo. They were truly the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Francis graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956 before earning his bachelor's degree in Music Education from Glenville State College. His passion for music led him to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where he studied violin under renowned concertmaster Sigmund Effron of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He later completed his master's degree in Music Performance in 1966 at the National Conservatory of Music in Athens, Greece.
A gifted musician, Francis was an accomplished violinist whose love for music touched countless lives. He began his teaching career at Carthage-Troy Schools in Ohio before dedicating 34 years to Federal Hocking Local Schools, where he taught music and proudly directed the Federal Hocking Lancer Marching Band until his retirement in 1995.
To all of his former students... "What kind of days are these? The best days of our lives."
In addition to his career in education, he and Kiki proudly owned and operated the Olympic Deli in Parkersburg, and they are the current owners of the Auntie Anne's franchise at Grand Central Mall.
Francis was a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Church. His Greek heritage was a source of great pride throughout his life, and he lived with unwavering faith and kindness. He loved his family deeply, treasured time spent together, and leaves behind a legacy of love, music, hard work, and devotion that will live on for generations.

Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the example he set and the countless memories he gave us. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 24th at 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Father Mark Elliott with the Trisagion Service held the evening before on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
The visitation will held Thursday 4- 7 pm and Friday 12 – 1pm at the funeral home.
