Dave Warfield died peacefully at home in Belpre, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones on July 20, 2026. He was born in Washington, D.C. on May 12, 1938, the fifth child of John Darwin and Pauline Virginia (Miles) Warfield. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Donna Jean (Benedum) Warfield, in 2009; brothers Sam, John, Jim and Bill Warfield and sister Margaret (Warfield) Hoffecker. He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Carolyn Dyer; daughters Christina Dolen (Rod), Terry Warfield, Connie Warfield (John Paul Richards); son Greg (Christina); grandchildren Stephanie Van Deman (Quint), Lindsey Guinn (Bryan), Brittany Dolen, Nick Warfield (Kiersten), Russell Warfield (Amanda), Sam Warfield (Marissa), Hannah and Diana Payne; and great grandchildren Ethan and Emma Guinn, Isabella and Levi Van Deman, Rivers and Ruby Warfield, Graham Warfield and Delainey Payne. He is also survived by his younger sister, Diana (Warfield) Burger, of Audubon PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Dave graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956, where he was in A Capella Choir, Thespians and was a drum major in the Big Red Band. He was active in several civic organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley. In later years he delivered meals with The Salvation Army and Old Man Rivers, which he enjoyed very much. Music was always an important part of Dave's life. He sang in the St Mark's United Methodist Church in Belpre Oh for nearly 60 years. He also sang in various ensembles, including The Servants Quartet, and sang for countless weddings.
Dave started his career in real estate in the early 70s with Parkersburg Realty. He then partnered with Mark Glannon to establish Landmark Realty. He left Landmark and started Warfield Realty which is still in operation today by his trusted friend of many years, Robert Wright II. Dave was president of the West Virginia Association of Realtors and Regional Vice President of the National Association of Realtors in the mid-70s. When he established Warfield Realty he specialized in commercial sales, which was revolutionary for our market at that time.
At Dave's request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Dave's life will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dave and Donna Warfield Fund for the Arts at the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (P.O. Box 1762, Parkersburg, WV 26102-1762, (pacfwv.com).
