It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brenda Patterson, who left this world July 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. Brenda was born on June 22, 1959, in Parkersburg, WV to devoted parents Conrad (Sonny) and Delphia Mae Patterson, who preceded her in death along with her husband, Hal Hammond.
Brenda was loved by all. She had a way of making people feel special, whether they were family, friends, or strangers. Brenda’s life was enriched by the love of her family and friends. She is survived by her siblings: Carolyn and Robert Maguire, and Robert and Peggy Patterson. Brenda’s spirit lives on in her niece and nephews: Brian and Doug Maguire and Kevin, Robert, and Brittany Patterson who will continue to honor the memory of their beloved aunt. Brenda spent many years in Texas and made some very dear friends who loved her dearly and will remember her always.
A graveside service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Sept. 28, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen North Cemetery. During Brenda’s final days, she was cared for by the incredible team at Vitas Hospice. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to nurse Stephanie, her CNA Brittany, and the dedicated staff at the hospice house, whose compassion and care provided comfort during a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brenda’s memory to support hospice care and dementia research. Brenda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
