Betty Carpenter

With great sadness but deep love and trust in God’s eternal promise, Betty Carpenter, 88, of Vienna, WV, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2026, at 3:50 in the morning. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love, faith, and kindness will live on through her family who miss her every day.

Betty was born on January 23, 1938, to Hubert Roscoe and Edna (Blackshire) Boggs in Normantown, WV. She graduated from Parkersburg High School where she met the love of her life Richard Carpenter. Betty was an active member in the community receiving many awards for her time and dedication, but her favorite was running the Vienna Christmas parade for over 25 years. Not only was she a faithful servant of God doing many things behind the scenes in church, but she was also an amazing baker and quilt maker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers Jack Boggs, Billy Gene Boggs, and infant brother Hubert Vane. She leaves behind one brother Gary Dwayne Boggs, one daughter Nanette (Darrell) Ruark, two sons, Rick (Charlotte) Carpenter, and Kelly Carpenter, three grandchildren, Jeremy Carpenter, Janette (Rick) Hart, and Eric Ruark.

Also, eight great grandchildren, Reagan (Jon), Kole, Brandon, Drew, Lily, Jazy Laekyn, and Payson. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and stepchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
