Ray Starcher, 87, of Williamstown passed away June 25, 2026 at his residence. He was born on October 15, 1938 in Creston, WV a son of the late Artis (Starcher) Hogue.

Ray was a racecar driver for many years, driving for Bob and Jack Longfellow of Marietta with the number 44. Ray was a simple man, but he loved racing.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Starcher, his daughter Darlene Keller (Hal) of Virginia, son Danny Starcher (Easter) of Ohio, son Johnnie Starcher (John) of Virginia, son Eddie Starcher of Williamstown, and son Greg Starcher (Shelly) of Williamstown. He is also survived by 5 siblings, 10 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Danny Vandale, sister Ann Lynch, sister Norma Wharff, his daughter Connie Jean Smith of Ohio, and his grandchildren Russell Hicks and Dakota Starcher.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, 2:00 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home.
