Paul Richard Taylor

Paul Richard Taylor, 80, of St. Marys, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Born on November 30, 1945, in Wellsburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Mack Patrick Taylor and Theodotia Mae Taylor.

Paul was a proud Vietnam veteran. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lubbock, Texas. From June 25, 1963, to June 24, 1966, he served as a fuel specialist and completed one tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Paul earned a degree in criminal justice and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He was especially proud of earning his degree and receiving his Public Service Enforcement Officer.

A loyal public servant, Paul dedicated much of his life to serving both his community and his country. He was a lifetime member of the VFW & American Legion, and a Master Mason of Masonic Lodge St. Marys No. 41 A.F. and A.M. and Eastern Star St. Marys Chapter No. 31. He was also a member of the Republican Party and a supporter of President Donald Trump. In addition, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Teamsters Local Union. Throughout his career, Paul worked for International Mill Service, C&F Trucking, Westbrook Trucking, and Chemical Leaman.

On June 5, 1987, Paul married the love of his life, Cindy Sue Taylor. Together they shared 43 years of marriage, devotion, and companionship. Paul proudly served his country, his community, and the public throughout his life. He was also known for spending 57 years as Santa’s faithful right-hand man, bringing snacks, joy, and smiles to countless children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Taylor; daughter, Amanda M. (Jerome) Burr; grandsons, Ashton, Easton, Eli, Caleb, and Jaxon; granddaughters, Kyrie, Kaylee, Laney, and MaKinsey; bonus son, Davey Jeffers; sister, Norma Craft; brothers, John Taylor and; nieces, Sonya (Joe) Hamilton, Jodi McLaughlin, LeeAnn Bohn; great niece Mallory Hamilton; great-nephew, Malachi Hamilton; sister-in-law, Elaine Jividen; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jay Richard Taylor; and brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, and Eugene Taylor, and Arnold L. Jividen.

The family extends special thanks to Ohio Valley Healthcare, the ICU staff at Camden Clark Medical Center, and Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, West Virginia, with Pastor Tim Nichols officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Thursday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Willow Island Cemetery.
