Judith Maxine (DeWees) Joseph

Judith Maxine (DeWees) Joseph passed away with her daughters by her side in her home in Albuquerque, NM on June 18, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on July 8, 1946, to Norman and Nellie Maxine (Bell) DeWees in Parkersburg, WV.

Judy enjoyed crafts, decorating, and laughing with her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and an active volunteer at Parkersburg Catholic Elementary and High Schools. She grew up and was educated in Parkersburg, then moved to Fairfax, VA, Buffalo, NY, and later Albuquerque, NM, to be with her children and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Duane and Dwight DeWees. Judy is survived and deeply missed by her daughters Jennifer (Jonathan) Frieden of Fairfax, VA and Amy (Gary) Love of Albuquerque, NM, and four grandchildren, Jessica Love, Mark Love, Hannah Frieden, and Hailey Frieden.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, June 18th, at 11 am with a luncheon to follow in the parish hall. The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Healthcare at Home hospice program in Albuquerque, NM for the kind and compassionate care they gave to both Judy and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
