Hoyt
David Lee Hoyt, 71, of Belmont, WV, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Born on March 18, 1955, he was the son of the late Irvin Hoyt Sr. and Betty Ragsdale Hoyt.
David graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1973. He was married to his beloved wife, Martha Bembry Hoyt, for over 29 years. David worked for several different Radio, Television and Newspaper companies in West Virginia for more than 35 years, including 93R (WRRR-FM) in St. Marys. One of his memorable moments in radio was as a teenager, at WMOV-AM in Ravenswood. He was the very first person in the U.S. to play Country Roads, by John Denver. He had a heart for senior adults and loved engaging with them wherever they were. This was also apparent during his service as the Executive Director for Pleasants Senior Nutrition in St. Marys. A devoted golfer, David found great joy on the course, one of his favorite pastimes. He loved sports and volunteered for many years as a youth league basketball and baseball coach. He especially enjoyed coaching his son Jacob in all his sports. He loved the therapy of gardening and being outside, particularly at the old family farm, near and dear to his heart. During the years, he held various volunteer positions at church and was most currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Belmont.
David is survived by his wife, Martha; his son, Jacob (Rachel) Hoyt; his brother, Irvin Hoyt Jr (Tammy).; nephews, Chris Hoyt, Jeremy Pope (Heather) and Tony Suarez (Gina); niece, Janelle (Evan) Primeau; great‒nieces and nephews, Alaina, Kohl, MyKael, and Zachary; and his brother‒in‒law, Mark (Patsy) Bembry.
