Bernard B. Byers Jr.

Bernard B. Byers Jr., 76, of Belleville, WV, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born to the late Alice Jean Yeater Byers and Bernard B. Byers, Sr.

Bernard retired from DuPont and was a faithful member of Belleville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He married Clarissa Mae Byers in 1967, and together they shared 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Clarissa Mae Byers; daughters, Tamara (Tom) McKinney of Parkersburg, Robin (Roger) Westbrook of Belleville, and Heather (Jim) Freeland of Belpre Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Byers; sisters, Ann Welch, Janet Dailey, and Teedee Byers; and granddaughter, Clarissa Grace Freeland.

Bernard will be remembered for his love of family, faith, and the outdoors.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1934 DuPont Road, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Pastors Larry Dale and Randy Dornan will be officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers Brooklynn, Becky, and Ashley.
