Bailey
Sally Burton Bailey, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on April 14, 2026. She was born May 8, 1952, in Parkersburg to the late Howard Overton Burton and Imogene Frances Stukey and had been living in Porter, Texas with her sister Julie Langler.
Sally attended Parkersburg High School and West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Her career included work as a dental assistant and dedicated stay-at-home mother, but her true passion was elementary school teaching.
She is survived by her son, Derek Bailey, and daughter-in-law, Sara Bailey; grandchildren, Brendon (Ren) Bailey and Adam (AJ) Bailey; sister, Julie Langler, and brother-in-law, Daniel Langler; niece, Elizabeth Langler, and her children, Alexander and Aria Dimaala and Aiden Padgett; nephew, Jarett Langler; best friend, Jane Burke; and friends, Sharon and Richard Kauffman.
Sally cherished time with her grandchildren, hosting them nearly every summer during their childhoods. In retirement, she spent considerable time in Texas with her sister and friends, traveling, dining, and gathering with family — especially her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Since 2021, she resided in Woodstock, Maryland, near her son’s family, where she celebrated holidays and special occasions, made new friends, and enjoyed bingo, Ledo Pizza, and arts and crafts with neighbors.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
