Nancy Lee Walling, age 74, passed away on May 3, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic. She was raised in Indianapolis by her parents, Richard and Martha Scherer (deceased). She attended North Central High School and Miami of Ohio University, spending her junior year at Miami’s Luxembourg campus. Nancy met her husband, Donald Walling, while both working for the U.S. Treasury in Chicago and married September 27, 1975. They relocated with the Bureau of Public Debt to Parkersburg, WV, and raised daughter, Elizabeth Walling (Morgantown, WV) and son, Robert Walling (Pittsburgh, PA). They took many trips in the U.S., Europe and the Caribbean, once spending four weeks exploring France by car. Nancy spoke French, loved Paris and read books about history. Among those giving friendship and kindness to Nancy and Donald have been Diane and Richard Thomas, Susan and John Boyer and Joanne Hvala and Bill Leitold. These words cannot sum up Nancy’s life.
