Donald “Don” Rood

Donald "Don" Rood, 75, of Reedsville, passed away May 27, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Snider Young; father, Harding Rood; and brother-in-law, Gary Peters.

Don is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia (Pirillo) Rood; siblings, Julie Peters and Lawrence Rood; children, Rachel Enoch, Aaron Enoch (Maggie), and Lisa Bauer (Aaron); and grandchildren Anna Bauer, Luke Bauer, Evan Enoch, and Noah Enoch, who lovingly knew him as âPop.ã

Don retired from Ames after many years of dedicated work. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, baseball, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was known for his homemade noodles, his tomato garden, and riding his John Deere tractor. Don especially loved attending his grandchildren's ball games and creating handmade woodworking treasures for family and friends.

He will be remembered for his kindness, strong values, quiet strength, and deep love for his family, friends, and country. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sebastian Devasya officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm.
