Betty L. Winters, age 89, of Elizabeth, WV, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born December 15, 1936, in Epsom, NC, a daughter of the late Sidney G. and Parker Elizabeth Burgess Hayes. Betty was retired from the Little Kanawha Soil Conservation District with over 37 years of service. She enjoyed helping her husband, Phil with his Wirt County FFA Advisor duties over the years. Betty and her husband were life time members of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church and members of the WV Chapter of the Good Sam’s Camping Club. She loved cooking, enjoyed baking for others and spending time with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Phillip B. Winters; three daughters, Janet Spaur (David) of Mineral Wells, WV, Anita Hoover (Scott) of Elizabeth, WV and Lisa Pollard (Charlie) of Edmond, OK; two sisters-in-law, Frances Hayes and Linda Hayes of Henderson, NC; six grandchildren, Beth (Josh) Schwendeman of Lowell, OH, Matt (Lindsay) Spaur of Parkersburg, Brian (Michelle) Crouser of Mancos, CO, Chad (Brooke) Crouser of Williamstown, WV, Michael (Kelsey) Fulmer of Edmond, OK and Austin (Danielle) Fulmer of Edmond, OK; five great-grandchildren, Miles Fulmer, Sadie Fulmer, Harper Spaur, Wesley Spaur and West Phillip Crouser and several nieces and nephews, she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, S.G. Hayes Jr and Ronnie Hayes.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, South Parkersburg with Pastors Teresa Adams and Paul Russell officiating. Interment will follow at the K of P Cemetery, Elizabeth. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The family would like to thank the ladies of Adoration Hospice, Cheryl, Nikki, and Liza as well as Charlene Johnston, Brenda Villers, and Jeanna Miller for their compassionate care.
