Thelma Jean (Moore) Marks, 88, of Parkersburg, WV died Tuesday April 14, 2026 at Ohio Valley Healthcare. She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late Norman and Iva Mae (Shafer) Moore.

She taught at several of the local Christian schools and early in her life worked at McCory’s downtown. She was an active member of Independent Baptist church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and doing word puzzles.

She is survived by her brother Howard Moore (Margaret) of St. Joseph, MI, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Jack Marks; five sisters Mary Channel, Marie Williams, Margaret Boyd, Wilma Burns, and Vesta Flinn; and five brothers Delbert, Richard, Walter, Harold, and Ronald Moore.

Services will be Monday 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastors Michael Elder and Steve Snell officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
