Orvella K. Cale

Orvella K. Cale, 75, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away on March 13, 2026. She was a beloved, cherished, devoted, faithful, and kind-hearted woman whose life was defined by love for her family and care for those around her. She was born on March 15, 1950, in Parkersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Harry and Virginia Carney.

Orvella was married to the late Buck Cale for 14 wonderful years. She was the proud mother of three daughters and a son: Marie Knicely (Mark), Tami Piggott, and Stephanie Ketchem (Chris), and the late Scott Cale. She is survived by her beloved longtime companion, Thurman Gillespie. She was a loving grandmother to Brittany Norby (Mike), Zakk Knicely, Reba Miller (Josh), Chase Piggott, Jakob Knicely (Reagan), and Tyler Piggott, and she had eight great-grandchildren, with another blessing on the way.

Orvella is also survived by her brother and sisters, Pam Kinnaird (Chuck), Susie Andrews (Joe), and Joe Carney. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Carney, Micha Carney, and Steve Carney.

She loved cooking, making costumes, and singing, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family. Her steady presence, generous heart, and faithful devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 am. It will take place at the First Assembly of God, 139 Hill Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Family and friends are invited to stay following the service for a pot luck meal and time of fellowship. Please feel free to bring a dish to share.
